In Game 3 the Grizzles came out more aggressive and gave the Spurs a tough time the whole night. They went on to win that game 105-94 with the big three of the grizzles (Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, and Zach Randolph) combining for 66 points, as they held Kawhi to only 18 points. The series was 2-1 San Antonio.
In Game 4, this was another must win for the Grizzles, it was a close game until the end. They went back and forth and Kawhi Leonard erupted for 43 points and led the Spurs to overtime. In overtime they battled until the end. It was a tie game and Memphis ball. Marc Gasol got the ball and scored over Lamarcus Aldridge to win the game. Mike Conley and Kawhi Leonard both had big games. Mike Conley had 35 points 9 rebounds 8 assists. However, Marc Gasol was the hero in this game with the game winner, finishing his night with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The series is now tied at 2-2 a piece.
On Tuesday, April 25th Game 5 will be in San Antonio in a crucial showdown for both teams. However, I think the Spurs need to win this game more than the Grizzles do because if the Spurs lose, Grizzles just need one more win to advance and they will have a chance to do that on their home court. I think Grizzles will win this series, especially if the Spurs can’t win Game 5 at their home.
Going into the playoffs everyone knew how good Kawhi Leonard and the Spurs were, but no one really expected the Grizzles to put up much of a fight. Most people saying that Spurs will take it in five, but I knew that the Grizzles were not going to go down so easily. I still think Grizzles can take this series, but they need to find the man to guard Kawhi Leonard, since Tony Allen is out for this series. Kawhi Leonard is a special talent in today’s NBA by his impressive offensive skill set, and elite defending. He is arguably one of the best players in the league now, and a top three defender in the NBA. He is also an MVP candidate having an impressive quiet season.
